Inclusive, Child-Safe and Nurturing Environments
We are committed to creating environments where all children feel physically and emotionally safe, valued, and included. Our spaces are designed to reflect diverse identities, abilities, cultures, and family structures. We promote practices that uphold children's rights, dignity, and agency. Through predictable routines, secure relationships, and developmentally responsive support, we nurture a sense of trust and belonging for every child.
Working with Children Checks
Every educator, staff member, student, and volunteer at Peppertree holds a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) in accordance with NSW legislation. To further safeguard the safety and wellbeing of our children, we verify every WWCC every three months, in addition to renewing checks as required. No team member works unsupervised with children until their check has been confirmed.
Child Protection
Peppertree follows a comprehensive Child Protection Policy aligned with the National Quality Framework and NSW child safe standards. All educators complete mandatory reporter training and understand their legal obligation to report any concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing to the appropriate authorities. Our centre promotes a culture where children are encouraged to use their voice, and where every staff member is responsible for keeping children safe.
Sun Safety
We follow a SunSmart approach in line with Cancer Council guidelines. Children wear sun-safe hats for all outdoor play, sunscreen is applied throughout the day, and outdoor activities are scheduled and shaded appropriately to reduce UV exposure.
Allergy and Medical Management
We take allergies, medical conditions, and dietary requirements seriously. Each child's medical information, action plans, and any required medication are recorded and reviewed with families, and our educators are trained in allergy awareness, anaphylaxis management, and administering first aid. Our kitchen and mealtime practices are managed with care to reduce risk for children with food allergies and intolerances.
Safe Arrival and Departure
Our centre uses a secure sign-in and sign-out system, and children are only released to authorised persons nominated by their family. Our entry and exit points are monitored to ensure the safety and security of every child in our care.
Qualified, First Aid Trained Educators
All educators hold or are working towards approved early childhood qualifications, and current first aid, CPR, asthma, and anaphylaxis training is always maintained across our team.
Regulatory Compliance
Peppertree operates in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Education and Care Services National Regulations, and is regulated by the NSW Department of Education. We are committed to continuous improvement against the National Quality Standard (NQS).
